Before you book, review our “Know Before You Go” which contains details on what to wear, where to meet us, your choices for lunch, and directions to Whittier!

Whittier is the western gateway to Prince William Sound. The 26 Glacier Cruise comes face to face with towering glaciers and breathtaking Alaska scenery. Moments from the dock, a delicious hot lunch will be served. Soon the glaciers will come into view as you cross Port Wells and enter Passage Canal. As you reach Esther Passage, the Captain will slow down so guests can access the outdoor viewing decks. Watch for bald eagles as we navigate these shallow waters.

Next, we head toward College Fjord where a panoramic view of numerous glaciers will captivate your eyes. To get up close to the ancient ice, we will head towards the glaciers at the end of College Fjord, and later in the day, we will explore Blackstone Bay. Follow the crevasses and striation marks to see how the glacier ice moves over the years. Listen for the ice to shift as a signal that it may be about to calve into the sea. That is a truly astounding sound and exciting sight to witness!

Prince William Sound is bordered by the Chugach National Forest. While we focus on viewing the abundant glaciers in Prince William Sound, we also encourage you to keep an eye out for wildlife during the cruise. It is common to find sea otters, harbor seals, Steller sea lions, bald eagles, and other seabirds in Prince William Sound. We may also see whales, black bears, and mountain goats.

You can drive to Whittier or add our coach service which departs from the Hotel Captain Cook at 9:15 AM.
