Before you book, review our “Know Before You Go” which contains details on what to wear, where to meet us, your choices for lunch, and directions to Whittier!
Whittier is the western gateway to Prince William Sound. The 26 Glacier Cruise comes face to face with towering glaciers and breathtaking Alaska scenery. Moments from the dock, a delicious hot lunch will be served. Soon the glaciers will come into view as you cross Port Wells and enter Passage Canal. As you reach Esther Passage, the Captain will slow down so guests can access the outdoor viewing decks. Watch for bald eagles as we navigate these shallow waters.
Next, we head toward College Fjord where a panoramic view of numerous glaciers will captivate your eyes. To get up close to the ancient ice, we will head towards the glaciers at the end of College Fjord, and later in the day, we will explore Blackstone Bay. Follow the crevasses and striation marks to see how the glacier ice moves over the years. Listen for the ice to shift as a signal that it may be about to calve into the sea. That is a truly astounding sound and exciting sight to witness!
Prince William Sound is bordered by the Chugach National Forest. While we focus on viewing the abundant glaciers in Prince William Sound, we also encourage you to keep an eye out for wildlife during the cruise. It is common to find sea otters, harbor seals, Steller sea lions, bald eagles, and other seabirds in Prince William Sound. We may also see whales, black bears, and mountain goats.
You can drive to Whittier or add our coach service which departs from the Hotel Captain Cook at 9:15 AM.
26 Glacier Cruise
See glaciers and wildlife up close on our most popular cruise. The calm waters of Prince William Sound set the stage for a smooth cruise on our high-speed catamarans. Enjoy a hot lunch included with the cruise. All cruises have our industry exclusive No seasickness guarantee. Cruises in May will have narration provided by our Captains.
Hop in the car and make it a road trip!
Our Whittier cruises depart from the Cliffside Marina, 100 West Camp Road, Whittier, AK. We suggest leaving Anchorage at 9:00 AM, allowing 1.5 hours to drive from Anchorage to Whittier, and arriving at the Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel by 10:30 AM. Transportation to Whittier is not included.
Leave the driving to us and enjoy the cruise!
Coach service must be reserved in advance. Sit back and relax as your driver points out the sights between Whittier and Anchorage. *If continuing to the Anchorage airport after the cruise, bring your luggage to the coach in the morning. After the cruise, return to the hotel or the airport for flights after 11:00 PM.

Why Choose Phillips Cruises & Tours?
First-Class Fleet of High-Speed Catamarans
The M/V Klondike Express completed a refit in 2017 with new carpeting, tables, and modern comfortable upholstered seats. The M/V Bravest joined our fleet in 2019 to provide more guests the opportunity to see the glaciers of Prince William Sound through large panoramic windows that allow every guest an up-close view of the glaciers and wildlife. And now – if your phone or camera battery is running out of charge, you can plug into our USB ports and easily recharge during the 26 Glacier Cruise and be ready to capture more photos of spectacular Prince William Sound.
Professional Narration
Our day cruises feature narration by our knowledgeable Captain who will share the story of Prince William Sound’s history, geography, and wildlife.
Complimentary Hot Meal:
Wild Alaskan Smoked Salmon Chowder OR Hearty Vegetable Chili will be served shortly after departure. Both are accompanied by a fresh Julienne vegetable salad, multi-grain roll and butter, oyster crackers, tropical fruit cup, and a Peppermint Pattie.
